My Blurb Book

Yay!! I just sent off my Blurb book of Carissa and Ben's wedding. It is not too fancy, but I would say it was easy to do and if I had had more patience I could have done it even nicer. I did basically no texting for the pictures, since I figured they were pretty self-explanatory, plus the book is just for myself and anyone else who comes here and might want to look at it. Try it! (I mean try one for yourself).

Wednesday

Two days and counting until we go to the Expo. I am trying every way not to get sick since about 1 out of 2 people (seems like) either have the flu or a bad chest cold.

The dreary weather continues, so I pep myself up by looking at a few sewing and craft blogs. The ideas some people have! Its incredible how creative people are.

I continue knitting on my purse and a pair of fingerless gloves. Will show you if I ever get it done. Expect to do some knitting on the way and on the way back.

Changing my Blog look

I was trying to change my blog look and am still having a little trouble with the title. I know it looks wierd.

Monday with not much news

Time for a little blogging. Susie, I always enjoy your blogs and updates on Hunter! We have Boo here (white chih-pom) for the week since Steve and Sandra are in Billings on vacation. He's been a good puppy, doesn't seem lonesome - only a couple of brief times where he sat on the stairs and looked toward the door and whined.

We had a nice potluck here yesterday. I should have taken a picture of the food. Why don't we do them more often!?

We're getting rain here, but it looks like if it drops one degree we could be getting snow.

Hunter's first hockey game

Even though he had seen Uncle Todd play before. Last night we sat at the end of the row near the exit and Hunter was able to visit with the section leader, who apparently asked him if he was going to be a hockey player when he grew up because when we got back in the car he said, "When I grow up, be hockey player." He wanted Uncle Steve to feed him the chicken nuggets right before we left. The pictures are a little blurry, but you get the idea. You couldn't use a flash in the arena.

Grandpa bought him a little stick at the souvenir booth. You can't see the stick in motion, but he is playing hockey on the way back to the car.

Ta da!

Here they are - finally. My first pair of knitted socks.

Thanks, Susie,

for taking some pictures so I could blog them. On Saturday I cleaned house and we went to Costco in Coeur d'Alene (Idaho has less sales tax than WA) and we had new tires put on the Sante Fe. Wow. Tires are EXPENSIVE. But necessary! Saturday night Hunter and I got to play so Susie could go with Jeff to the hockey game. Even though he was tired Grandma didn't make him go to bed (he wasn't cranky though)because we had so many things to do. Sunday dinner was here and I made lots of food hoping one of the friends that has lost her husband could come - she wasn't feeling well. Here are some pictures of Hunter making snowflakes. He was so thrilled with himself. You can see Grandpa and I are standing by ready to help at the least sign of distress. haha

Lunch on Wednesday

Susie brought over my Market Spice Tea that she got for me in Seattle, so I thought we might as well have lunch together. Hunter and I got a little play time in before he had to go home and have a nap.

A Quiet Weekend

It's Monday morning - we had a pleasant, but relatively quiet weekend, ending up last night with supper at the Hot Rod Cafe with Kent and Carol Schluter. I had their feta salad with huckleberry dressing. Yum! And it's served with their garlic bread (unlimited). Dad had shrimp, which was on special last night.

I am working at finishing up a few undone projects in my sewing room so that when I come back from Sewing Expo I can dig into whatever inspirations I have found there.

Peanut

Well, here's Peanut basking in undivided attention from Grandpa and Grandma while Jeff and Susie are on the coast. Well, it's snowing.... but that certainly isn't news any more.

Larry and Ginny's Visit

We had a wonderful 4-5 days with Larry and Ginny. During that time we celebrated Larry's birthday with a party, cake and presents!! Larry and I did lots of reminescing over old times. On Saturday we helped Todd and Amy finish moving to their new apartment. We played the new "pencil" game, which got pretty feisty. We played a little mystery partner Rook, too. Here are a few pictures.

Valentine's Day is coming...

and I wanted to put up a picture of two vintage valentines. My mom received these two valentines from two of her pupils when she was teaching school in the early 30's. They fold forward flat and are signed in pencil on the back by the students that gave them.

P.S. The tablecloth and doily are made by mom as well.

Tuesday

Nothing much new to report - I was hoping to have a picture of a completed sock to put on, but that hasn't happened. I had to tear out a few rows, so I am only halfway down the foot to the toe. Soon.

Dentist apointment today. I still hate going to the dentist, even at my advanced age.

My Goodwill purchases today:

Do you think they are depression glass? I can't tell.

Hunter and the Box

When Grandma babysat Hunter yesterday we luckily had a large box for Hunter to play in and to "work on". He takes little pieces and pulls them off with his play tool set. Here he is:

Lovely birthday lunch for Diane

Yesterday several of us were glad Diane Thom had a birthday so we could go out to lunch. Here are a couple of photos of the lunch. The lady in the corner (in the bottom picture) is 94 years old and still going strong (well, not really too strong), but very sweet. Some of you from Minnesota will remember Diane from years ago.

Busy, but fun weekend

Chuck and Jean and Alveta came last Thursday afternoon. Alveta is from Minnesota and Chuck and Jean are bringing her to California to see her son. She used to be Madsen and then was married to another man for 20 years - sorry I can't remember her current name. But she is very sweet and I enjoyed visiting with her. Friday night I had them over. Friday Jean, Alveta and I went thrift store shopping and then went out to lunch at the "White House, a local Mediterranean restaurant that specializes in garlic food. Saturday we went to a used book sale at the library, then I had everyone over for supper and games, since it was Steve's birthday. Sunday was relaxing and we napped and knitted until supper when we were invited to Steve and Sandra's for a birthday supper which Sandra had prepared - all Asian food - and you will see the huge smorgasbord of food that she cooked. It was superb. Here's some pictures:

Knitting

I looked at your Picasa pictures that you put up of the ocean, Carissa. It's really cool that you saw those whales!

Yesterday I bought this beautiful ball of yarn and started my sock, after several mishaps and tearing out and starting over. I certainly am a novice, but there are so many helpful on-line tutorials and videos. I am now on the third row, so I think I am off and running.

Hunter was here on Sunday evening for awhile and Grandpa and I played hide-and-seek with him, as well as play-doh again.

Today I am going to clean cupboards - I have a hope of doing all of them, but doubt my enthusiasm will last that long.

It was a year ago today that dad died. I'm so glad he's in a better place now.
