Here's the Bible bag

This bible bag was such an easy, fun thing to knit!! Also, here's some yarn I got at a thrift store yesterday. It's not chunky, and it's not sport weight, somewhere in between. Would probably make a nice sweater. Don't know how much there is - quite a bit.

New Lights

Here is my latest "creation" - our two vines in the back yard needed a haircut so I took twigs and made a swag - these lights are little mini lights.

Also, here is our new mini garden ready for some seeds - we will plant a few of the early stuff, radishes, carrots, peas, pretty soon. I would guess it's 12' X 10'. (Only a guess). So it will be a taste of fresh stuff in the summer. I am hoping it will get adequate sun.

More sewing, what else?

I noticed a thing when I was signing into the blog that says I have done 104 posts - doesn't seem possible - ???

Anyway, here is the mixer cover that I made from the pattern of Susie's mixer cover. Nothing too spectacular.

Some Sewing

I picked this fabric up at the Expo. I also saw the pattern there and never would have thought to get it, by looking at the picture on the pattern cover. But they had one made up in the booth and I really liked it. It's a basic tee shirt type pattern, for knit fabric. But it has an interesting design on one side, and this also makes it a little more roomy. I decided it needed a pin to make it more dressy and I used the same idea as those pins we made a few years ago. Only I used the serger to make an edging in a slightly lighter color. I guess you can't see the styling too well unless you look closely.

No pictures

to put up this morning. We had a lovely dinner at Jeff and Susie's yesterday with ham and mustard sauce. Sandra made her delicious cinnamon butter and Amy made lemon meringue pie and chocolate meringue pie. Gospel meeting and then an evening to put our feet up.

I guess I didn't say anything about having Hunter overnight on Friday. We had a really fun time with him and you can see it on our Picasa album. It made us remember how busy you are when you are parents of young children.

Saturday was busy with a funeral in the morning and then I cleaned house in the afternoon. If it would stop raining we could start to get some outside work going. Doesn't look like that will happen for a few days.

Another beautiful day

We certainly appreciate beautiful sunny days after our long winter, and I know ours wasn't as long and hard as some.

I just finished reading The Associate by John Grisham, his brand new book. It's another lawyer thriller, and was interesting enough to keep me reading, a page turner, you might say. Nothing too indepth, but a good book. I recommend it.

Carissa made me this lovely bag for my knitting (second picture). She has a small zipper bag inside to hold smaller things. So I made myself a little zipper bag for mine.

Monday - nothing much new

I will just post one random picture. I don't have any new interesting ones. It looks like spring really will come. Supposed to be nice today for a a change!!!

We really enjoyed having the workers here for a few days. It's very uplifting. Didn't even get a picture :-( I could have put that up.

We were invited out to lunch yesterday. There were 3 other couples there besides the people whose house we were at, and all of the couples were about the same age - mid 50's to mid-60's. It was very enjoyable! Not to mention good food - she had creme brule for dessert.

Tuesday

Hunter is helping grammers put away the silverware from the dishwasher. He's such a good help!



We took the kids wedding cake top out of the freezer, and Hunter thought it should be a birthday cake, so we put candles on it for him to blow out.


Carissa and I spent two full days shopping last week. Here's a photo of us knitting and resting our tired feet.

Thursday

We haven't taken too many pictures since the kids got here. Anyway, here's one and I'll post more later.

And even more

I have something else to put on - a purse book I bought at Expo and some fabric I bought at Bear Paw yesterday to make a handbag. I will save that for another time.

Cool book!

Yesterday I went to Bear Paw Quilting and spent my birthday gift certificate from my DH - darling husband. (See I am a conservative McCorkell at heart - it has lasted this long). I found this great book - it is a table runner book. I will show you a few of this table runners and, of course, you can imagine them with different kinds of fabrics. I want to eventually make one for each of our daughter-in-laws, plus one for myself for every season. I have a fall one already, so maybe I should start one for next winter! Sorry about the glares. I guess I should have put the pictures near a window and tried without flash. I'm not a great photographer - I leave that to other talented people in the family. If you enlarge the pictures you can see them much better.

More Sewing Stuff

Guess I might have to start a SEWING BLOG since I have been inspired from the Expo. Anyway, I recently got this vintage stool and wanted some fabric to make a little decorative cushion for it, something to tie the blue into my kitchen colors. Found this: it is a Kaffee Fasset fabric.

Skirt

Here's the skirt on Pollyanna. I think this will be what the sewing bloggers call a TNT pattern - tried and true. It seems to fit well and can be used again and again. One of the discouraging parts of sewing is to spend a lot of time on something and then not have it turn out right.

Wednesday

Nothing much new here. I am working on a skirt - camel colored. It is lightweight wool and I bought the material about 10 years ago at the Pendleton outlet down in Oregon. It's a beautiful piece and hangs nicely. Will post a picture soon.

Yesterday Hunter and I played for awhile. Grammers gets a little exercise while we play some version of hockey with a mop and a broom. Thank goodness for a little break while the zamboni comes onto the ice. Haha. Sliding on the kitchen/dining room floor is an important part of the game.

A coupla finished projects

The purse was knitted nearly entirely on the way to Seattle and back. It is a fast pattern - one row knit and second row yarn over and knit two together. Repeat the whole bag (except top part which is straight knitting. Fun project.

The other is my port-a-pocket, which you can take out and put into another purse.

Saturday

I have been fighting this cold bug - so far I don't seem to have it as bad as dad does. Unless it comes with another blast. I do some coughing, but it seems to be a dry cough. Anyway.... We drug ourselves to Wal-Mart early this morning and got a cheap microwave for Tim to have in his office so he can warm up tea and coffee and warm up his lunch sometimes. Plus we got a few groceries.

I got my port-a-pocket done and will put a picture of it up soon. I have one tiny thing yet to do on it.

Busy Beaver

I have been buzzing around here working on sewing and knitting stuff, all inspired by the Sewing Expo. Tim is sick with the cold/bronchitis, so when he is home he is resting and sleeping and doesn't feel much like eating.

Here is the fingerless glove (only one glove so far) - they are lacy-looking. There are lots of mistakes, so don't look too closely.

Expo 2009

These are the only two pictures that were taken -you can see that we are excited about going to the Expo. The mohair looking yarn is going to be one of those lacy looking scarves. The other brownish yarn is the scarf that Bev Thom is going to teach me to make. The gadget attaches to your quilting ruler. I have no idea what the garblety gook is.
